These early and mid-70s Teles are just so good and desirable that they often sell before I can offer them to market. This one is gone to a loving home, but in case these are new to you, have a look at the pages for the ones that have found new homes, and listen to the demos. Then get one for yourself!
Quick guide: 73 and early 74 have laminate necks (Harayama specials); late 74 and 75 have single piece necks. Really early 73 models had a 24.75 inch scale, later models are 25.5. Early 73 had mahogany bodies, late 73 onwards had ash bodies. All years have Maxon pick-ups - the neck units are sublime, the bridge units are characterful, but a little weedy (great for punk and fuzz). You can't put modern bridge pick-ups in the original plates. No modern scratchplates will fit them. The frets are often worn to the limit and we put 55090 on them if necessary. The control plates don't take modern switches. So, essentially, any TE-280, 300 or 350 that arrives in great condition gets to stay original. All arriving that need major surgery get upgraded and modernized. All post June 75 models are Fujigen made and also fine fine guitars, but more familiar to Fender players. Matsumoku built Teles had a very different character.
